DETOURS in studio throughout 2016 as original trio recording new studio album & New EJE solo album planned for release

DETOURS are currently in the recording studio working on their fifth studio album entitled 'Believe Upon Each Day' as the original trio line up. Ez Jon Erikson and Sam Johnson are reunited with Julian Flindle and will continue to work on the project throughout 2016. This is their first studio album since 2007's 'Sense Of Purpose'. Julian has not performed live with Ez and Sam since December 2005 but has hinted that some reunion concert performances could be in the pipeline! To add to this ezciting news, recording on Ez Jon Erikson's new solo album 'Unsheltered' has been completed and is in the mastering stage with a summer 2016 release date planned. DETOURS to perform 2 hour fundraising concert at Greenfield Conservative Club

DETOURS (Ez Jon Erikson and his brother Sam Johnson) are to perform a special fundraising concert at Greenfield Conservative Club, Saddleworth in aid of St Mary's Church Organ Trust Committee. The concert will consist of two acoustic sets each lasting an hour, containing a wealth of their back catalogue and new material from forthcoming albums they are currently recording in the studio. During the interval there will be a raffle and supper served. Admission is £6 per ticket. See poster below.

DETOURS summer & Christmas performance dates announced

DETOURS (Ez Jon Erikson and his brother Sam Johnson) have announced four live performance dates. They are to perform at Mossley Band Club's Summer Madness concert on Saturday 27th June 2015, followed by two performances on the same day on Saturday 19th July, firstly with an afternoon session at The Commerical, Uppermill  as part of The Saddleworth Folk Festival Weekend, followed by an evening set at a fundraising event to be held at Greenfield Conservative Club. Also announced is a two hour acoustic concert on 19th December 2015 at St Mary's Church Greenfield's Christmas Tree Festival. This is the church's second such festival. Detours were honoured to have performed the opening event at the first festival two years ago and are delighted to have been asked back. Full details of all of these events with times and ticket information will follow soon.

EZ OUT OF ACTION WITH PLEURISY!!

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and hoping you enjoyed the Yuletide Festive Season. Please note that DETOURS are currently out of action as Ez is suffering from pleurisy, following a very bad flu virus he came down with during Christmas Day. We wish him a speedy recovery. Get well soon Mr EJE.

DETOUR TO DIGGLE HOTEL FOR FREE CHRISTMAS ACOUSTIC GIG!

DETOURS  are to perform an informal and free Christmas Acoustic gig at Diggle Hotel, Saddleworth on Monday 16th December2013. This will form part of the TUDO (Turn Up, Drop On) Open Mic Jam Night #17, which is organised by their friend Paddy O'Hare, who has performed with Detours several times both live in concert and on the studio recordings of 'Been Here Too Long' and 'A Dark Storm'. Paddy will be performing his own solo sets during the evening and will join Sam and Ez for a couple of numbers. This proves to be a great night of entertainment.

DETOUR TO NO. 71 BAR, STALYBRIDGE

Ez and his bro Sam are to perform an acoustic DETOURS set at the lovely, relaxed music venue of Number 71 Bar, Stalybridge next Friday, 29th November 2013. Admission is free and there will be two other acts performing, Rosco McCabe and another act to be confirmed.

DETOURS TO ROCK AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREES!

This theatre style show opens the week long first ever St Mary's Church Greenfield Christmas Tree Festival. Detours (Sam Johnson and Ez Jon Erikson) are to perform a 90 minute acoustic set, which will include selections from their back catalogue, new songs from their forthcoming albums set for release during 2014, cover versions and Christmas songs. They will be joined for part of the set by their special guest Paul Adshead. Refreshments of mulled wine and mince pies will be available. The church has a free car park and there is free roadside parking around the nearby area. The festival will be opened and the tree lights turned on by Councillor Graham Sheldon prior to the concert at 7pm. All of the Christmas trees are to be donated and sponsored by local businesses with proceeeds going towards church funds.

DETOURS TO PERFORM AT 2 MUSIC EVENTS DURING AUGUST

Ez has announced that he is to perform at 2 music events during August 2013 with his brother Sam Johnson as the acoustic duo Detours. The first performance is at 6pm on Sunday 11th August, the second day of a two day Music Festival at Well'i'hole Farm, Greenfield, Saddleworth in aid of Childflight.co.uk. The second show is at Rock & Bowl, Mottram Cricket Club during the evening of Sunday 25th August, following a cricket match which Ez and Sam hope to take part in (fitness permitting!). DETOURS ANNOUNCE 2 SHOWS: MABASO CAMPING WEEKEND & ST MARY'S CHURCH CHRISTMAS CONCERT!

Detours are delighted to announce that they will be performing their Christmas Acoustic Concert this year at the appropriate venue of St Mary's Church Greenfield, Saddleworth on Saturday 7th December 2013. Tickets will go on sale later this year, watch this space, but in the meantime it is a date to note in the diary.

Also, Detours are proud to be performing at Winnie Mabaso Camping Weekend Challenge on Saturday 22nd June 2013 in Clynnog Fawr, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, Wales. Sam and Ez continue to support the UK based charity The Winnie Mabaso Foundation, which was founded by their friend Lisa Ashton MBE. DETOURS CANCEL PERFORMANCE AT ROCK FOR MAHDLO!

It is with deep regret that Detours have had to pull out of the Rock For Mahdlo concert due to the very sad death of Ez's father in law on Easter Sunday. Ez and Sam wish all the performers and organisers the very best for a successful and enjoyable day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ez and his family during this very difficult time.

EZ TO RECEIVE TREATMENT FOR ONGOING BACK AND NASAL PROBLEMS!

Ez Jon Erikson is to receive treatment for ongoing recurring back and nasal problems. Ez has been in discomfort for several years with occasional severe back spasms, and also a breathing problem. Although nothing serious is suspected, Ez is being referred to specialists for appropriate treatment. He is hoping to be fit to perform some concerts with his brother Sam Johnson as the duo Detours during the Spring, including Rock For Mahdlo.

ROCK FOR MAHDLO - DETOURS TO PERFORM ACOUSTIC SET AT CHARITY GIG!

Ez Jon Erikson is to perform an hour long set with his brother Sam Johnson as the duo Detours at Rock For Mahdlo - a charity concert for Mahdlo Youth Centre, Egerton Street, Oldham with the aim of giving members of the youth centre a chance of performing along side some more established acts and raising money to buy new equipment for their music department. The concert is to be held on Sunday 7th April 2013 at Jackson's Pit, Off Barn Street, Oldham and is being organised by Gareth Harrison, who once played bass for The Crabs when they supported Detours at Playhouse2 Theatre, Shaw in November 2006. Detours are scheduled to perform from 8.00 - 9.00pm. Advance tickets are available priced £3.00 from Gareth (tel 07443 030573) and from the venue, or admission is £4.00 on the door. This will be Detours' first performance of the year due to Ez's recent ill health.
